Sarasota Opera Volunteer Benefits

As a Volunteer, you have an exciting opportunity to work behind the scenes or interact directly with the patrons at a performance.  Whether you are picking up an artist from the airport, ushering patrons to their seats or working with the administrative staff, you play an integral role in making the season successful.

Basic Benefits include:
  • One (1) ticket each for yourself and a guest to selected dress rehearsals (Does not apply to Ushers.)
  • For ushers, one (1) seat at one (1) performance of the operas for which you serve as an usher
  • Fall Potluck Feast (Contingent on interest.)
  • Invitation for you and a guest to the Volunteer Appreciation Event on the stage of the Opera House
  • Recognition in the Winter Program Book as a Volunteer

Benefits for Volunteers serving 10-40 hours:
  • Sarasota Opera Volunteer Name Tag
  • Automatic Entry into the Sarasota Opera Volunteer Ticket Lottery
  • All benefits listed above

Benefits for Volunteers serving 41-70 hours:
  • Two (2) tickets, as available, to Covers at 3 performance
  • Two (2) tickets to Apprentice Artists’ Winter Season Concert
  • All benefits listed above

Benefits for Volunteers serving 71-100 hours:
  • Two (2) tickets to Artists’ Choice Concert
  • All benefits listed above

Benefits for Volunteers serving 101 + hours:
  • One (1) ticket, as available, to an opera of your choice
  • Recognition in the following season’s Winter Program Book as an Elite Volunteer
  • Automatic qualification for Volunteer of the Year
  • All benefits listed above

Benefits are based on time sheets which have been received by the Volunteer Coordinator, and are awarded for work done between June 1 and May 31.  Some benefits may carry over to the following season if the hours worked trigger benefits involving tickets to performances which have already occurred or tickets are not available.

Unfortunately, Sarasota Opera is unable to extend volunteer benefits to work done as a member of the Board of Trustees, on behalf of an opera guild, or as a supernumerary.
